RAF No.1 Sqn. JX-G livery for the Hurricane MkI

No.1 Sqadron’s history with the Hurricane Mk1:
RAF No.1 Sqn were based in France at the outbreak of the war, but were quickly bombed out of their base. They were based in RAF Tangmere during the Battle of Britain, but had a rest period from the 9th September until early in 1941 at RAF Wittering. After returning to action, their primary duties included fighter sweeps and bomber escorts. In February they were re-equipped with the Hurricane IIA.
