4M7 Russellville-Logan County v1.0
This is 4M7, Russellville-Logan County airport in Kentucky, USA.
This airport has particular signifigance to me as I learned to fly here. The default airport in MSFS had much to improve, so I set out learning to use the DEV mode to correct this airport, this is the result of my first project.
I would not consider this to be “hand crafted” as I only used resources present in the MSFS install, however, it has been “hand improved.” All models and scenery come from within MSFS, there is no custom content. This mod just serves to bring the airport to a much closer approximation of the real life location and remove obvious errors from the default.
The default airport was lacking in many ways including but not limited to:
Runway markings were absent, added a fully marked and painted runway per actual airport configuration.
No generated buildings at all, this mod adds hangars and other buildings on the airport in proper locations.
Removed AI buildings that do not exist in real life from runway 7 approach and adjacent fields.
The rotating beacon was IN the taxiway, this model was moved to an appropriate spot.
Taxiway and aprons match the actual layout, and added appropriate markings consistent with real airport.
Windsock was moved to it’s real world location.
Fuel area properly located, tanks in correct position.
Numerous small touches to make it seem more realistic, perhaps not 100% true to life but approximate nuances to make it appear more finished. Vehicles here and there, a few people scattered around, landscaping, a few fences, light fixtures, etc…
A slightly goofy but not distracting easter egg hidden somewhere.
