WS51 – Leeward Farm Airport
Leeward Farm Airport is a private, paved strip located on a hill in southwest Wisconsin a few miles from the town of Soldiers Grove. There’s not much info on this field other than it’s single runway 11/29 with the dimensions 3791×100 ft (1155x30m). The aproaches and departures are very picturesque due to the airport’s location in the Wisconsin River valley.
Features (1.0):
– Resurfaced the runway, apron, and nearby roads
– Added 4 custom 3D models including a hanger that can be spawned in
– Created gardens and patios in appropriate locations
– Fixed a lot of terraforming issues with the default scenery.
– Added the ‘PRIVATE’ logo to the runway as well as match the runway paint to the real airport
– Fixed windsocks
– Other miscellaneous fixes
Known Issues/Notes:
– The hangars of the real airport are actually embedded in the hill which is not currently possible in the sim if you want to be able to start inside the hangars. As a result I had to move the hill back a bit to allow space for the hangars but kept the general layout as close to the real airport as possible.
– The largest plane that can be spawned inside the hangar is a Longitude but it will be very tight, both exiting the hangar and trying to take off.
