The 35th Squadron :
If you looked into the pilot of the A3, you will see a badge of a black cat, this is the mark of the ROCAF 35th squadron.
The 35th Squadron was located in Hsinchu, Taiwan, where the famous semi-conductor foundary TSMC is located. They are the most brave soldiers in the ROCAF. They executing the most dangerous missions during the cold war – Reconnaissance on China with U2-C under the command of CIA.
The missions are suicide missions, half of the squadron were killed in the missions. Later, this squadron took the AIDC A3 attacker which has a formal code name of AT3 attacker. The mission of the AT3 attacker is to attack the Chinese troops in the night.
The 35th squadron was dismissed completely as the night attacking capability of the Chinese PLA was established by the support of the American technology (ironicly….), so …if the China PLA troops landed Taiwan, it should be the situation that Taiwan lost completely the dominance in the air, nothing can fly in the sky to attack the PLA ground troops.
Background of the AIDC A3 ROCAF Thunder Boom Attacker:
The Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) is the aircraft manufacturer located in Taiwan.
AIDC Developed the AT3 bearing in mind a varient of an attacker jet for the ROCAF to fight against the invastion of China PLA grounding troops.
The code name of this attacking jet is XA-3, and the project name was Thunder Boom. The later mass production version is AT3 attacker jet.
One or two XA-3 prototypes were made during 1979-1983. The XA3 can carry a 30mm cannon. two AIM9 missiles, and five rocket/bomb launching racks.
The XA-3 is single seated; however, the T45C has two seats, this is the limitation of the original model.

ROC = Republic of China = Taiwan
PRC = People’s Republic of China = Red communist
Both had been fighting each other in debating the capitalism or communism since 1927 in mainland China as a civil war. ROC lost the war and was expelled to Taiwan at 1945. The war were suppressed for some years due to the US government wanted peace with PRC, but the war is not end even today.
