Schloss Philippsruhe wurde etwa von 1700 bis 1725 für den Hanauer Grafen Philipp Reinhard bei Kesselstadt als Barockschloss im Westen der Stadt Hanau errichtet.
Sein heutiges Aussehen geht weitestgehend auf Umbauten aus der Gründerzeit zurück: Landgraf Friedrich Wilhelm von Hessen-Rumpenheim lebte nur vier Jahre (von 1880 bis zu seinem Tod 1884) auf dem Schloss, was angesichts der vorausgegangenen fünf Jahre Umbauzeit wenig ist.

Philippsruhe Castle was built between 1700 and 1725 for Count Philipp Reinhard near Kesselstadt as a baroque castle in the west of the city of Hanau.
Its current appearance goes back as far as possible to renovations from the Wilhelminian era: Landgrave Friedrich Wilhelm von Hessen-Rumpenheim lived only four years (from 1880 to his death in 1884) at the castle, which is little in view of the previous five years of renovation.
