I couldn’t stand flying over Vesuvius and seeing it ROUND when is actually very different. fortunately google mapped the volcano in detail and I decided to import only the top with a modest lod to avoid creating a mod that was too heavy but definitely better than the default only 55Mb. It’s NOT Perfect, but better than that I couldn’t. Have a good flight!
Vesuvio is a volcano located in Italy, in a dominant position compared to the Gulf of Naples. It is one of the two active volcanoes in continental Europe and one of the most studied and dangerous volcanoes in the world.
Vesuvio is located on the south-eastern side of the metropolitan city of Naples, Campania, in the territory of the homonymous national park established in 1995, symbol of the same city. With a height of 1281 m at 2010, the volcano rises within a partial caldera about 4 km in diameter, the caldera that is the rest of a previous volcanic building, the current Monte Somma, after the great eruption of 79 caused the collapse of the southern flank at which the current cone with its crater would have formed. For this reason the entire volcanic complex, called Somma-Vesuvio, is classified as a “fence volcano”, and with the name Vesuvius it is commonly referred to as the inner cone, or Gran Cono.
