Lakes Region Airport (69NH, formerly 8B8), Wolfeboro, NH/Lake Winnipesaukee v1.0

69NH (formerly designated 8B8) was a wonderful little airport in Wolfeboro, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee. It was started by Ralph Horn and his wife in 1945. They ran the airport successfully for 40 years, until they needed to let it go in 1995. Sadly, due to mistakes by the NH Board of Aeronautics, the airport was purchased by a developer after the Horn’s had passed and was torn down in 2005. The developer went nearly bankrupt and now the property is owned by the Mariott family. Bringing back the days of yesterday, here is 69NH as she appeared in the mid-nineties.

I loved flying into this airport back in the day. Located just south of the White Mountains in the heart of the Lakes Region, it’s a half hour flight north from Boire Field in Nashua (KASH), and an absolutely beautiful place to fly at sunrise and sunset.

As originally set up, I’ve included a couple of Dock parking spots you can spawn at (301 and 302 to the north of the runway), as well as a couple of water runways as well.

Issues: Beacon and runway lights are on 24 hrs, I haven’t figured out how to set up the beacon to operate during night/IFR, not that this airport has IFR procedures
– If you spawn at the dock, amphibious aircraft will have their gear extended, but, when you enter the sim, they’ll retract (bug)
– I can’t currently suppress roads, so there’s some traffic running through the woods to the south occasionally.
– Again, because I can’t suppress roads, there’s some streetlights on the very south end of the runway. I’ll fix these when they give us the tools to do so.

I’ve included a few links below that describe some wonderful history about the airport, it’s owner Ralph Horn and the town and area. The townspeople actually supported the airport, likely because of Ralph, and even pitched in to purchase the beacon and runway lights in the early ’80’s… and kept paying and helping to repair the beacon as somebody repeatedly kept shooting it out O_O… New Hampshire… Hope you enjoy it. Let me know if anyone would like me to add fuel to the airport.
